April 10, 2020, marked the anniversary of the first black hole image. What better date could be to start the Basics of Astrophysics series! So here we begin with the first article. I was wondering what should be the topic of the first article. I then decided to introduce the subject and how it is different from its cousins: Astronomy and Cosmology. .
