Each tower had 2 paths, the left and right one, each of them maxing out at 4 upgrades. However, you can only upgrade ONE path to tier 3 and above; the other maxes out at 2. This essentially meant there's 2 different builds for each tower. BTD6 one-ups this system gracefully.
