Finally I replaced the Hitron E31NV1 with the Netgear CM600 and it's been solid as a rock for the last few weeks. Even though the Hitron was free from Charter, the peace of mind to not have random disconnections was worth getting a different modem. Hopefully this helps somebody out there that's been dealing with constant internet disconnections ...The customers should be able to buy your own modem, they cost about $60, that is not that much money. Its worth it to avoid the problems that come with this. You can also probably buy a used modem for around $20-30 of dubious quality, but you could get one that is really good as well and its cheap.
