I have a 1985 Mercury Black Max XR2 150 HP with oil injection. I suspect my oil pump is failing, but don't know how to test it. My upper reservoir is full. I disconnected the hose feeding the fuel line from the oil pump, and turned the engine over several times, but didn't see much oil.The part number for this module is #41470A26, it is $418 Mercury retail. Very expensive part to tell you that your engine mounted oil tank is low. I won't say it is the correct thing to do but you could disconnect the tan wire for this module and keep an eye on the oil tank mounted on the engine.Jul 11, 2013. #5.
