The names WAM and CLAM refer to a set of cents that the “AM” in the word AMERICA on the Reverse has either a Wide AM (WAM) or a CLose AM (CLAM). The space between the “A” and “M” is the area in question. The “M” is centered between the “A” and the “E” on a Wide AM.
